This is a horse. Not a dead horse from Bioshock Infinite, but a LIVE horse. Live in two senses, meaning that he is both alive and part of our living breathing world. However I can only assume the former, as I could not find a source for this gorgeous horse other than a video called "Merry Christmas Horses". Now, I find myself asking, why was this horse in Merry Christmas Horses?
This horse, who I am caringly naming "Diospyros", has very little to know relation to Christmas. He is a beauty, that is evident, but the beauty of this stallion does not seem to match up to the beauty of the holidays and winter time. When you think about Christmas, you think of bright colours, red, green, white and silver, you think of gifts and snow and spending time with family. And I believe that to be beautiful. But Diospyros has none of that feeling, save for his white croup.
The white croup and black dots aren't just a marking for any old breed, although that's what many people might think. Diospyros is an Appaloosa, and Appaloosas are very distinct. They often have markings and patterns similar to our horse here. I believe that no other breed of horse has body markings like these, and so Appaloosas are very distinct. I appreciate their beauty in images like these. They are also one of my favourite horse breeds, another favourite being the mighty Clydesdale. Clydesdales, being 16 to 18 hands of pure majesty in horse form.
